#6- silent questions

Published by haley4 under Uncategorized

1. My childhood was very important and significant to me. One thing that I remember real well was when i always go golfing with my dad and walk. I would never golf but i would always watch and say “nice shot daddy” I miss those days when I said daddy, when you could get away with anything, and run around crazy. Now today Im carefully watched, and don’t get to be so free.

2. Prejudice means to discriminate against the blacks. If your prejudice that means you don’t like them and you are rude to them. I have seen this happen before and it was very sad. It made me feel horrible and not knowing what to do?

3. I don’t really live in a neighborhood but I sure can explain my surroundings. I live in the country on 8 acres. Part of our land is a hayfield and another part is a Christmas tree farm. We have a huge yard in the front and back of our house that looks fake because it is so nice!

4.  Empathy the understanding of anothers feelings, and motives.  The last time I felt empathy for another was just yesterday when she was having a bad day and needed some help.  I feel like its always good to be empathletic.  If the world didn’t have empathy then everything would fall apart and people would tons of hatred.

5.  Justice to me is something that happens for a reason and is fair to everybody.  The most unjust occurence I have heard of is during basketball when nothing is fair and you have to do stuff to be on the team, not because you want to do it.

6.  I feel like my personal differences cause a lot of friction between me and other girls.  I am very laid back and go with the flow.  Other girls are very tense and are uptight.  I don’t like to cause problems or do anything bad, but it’s so hard to get along with girls your age.

7. Racism-discriminatory or abusive behavior towards members of another race
sexism-discriminatory or abusive behavior towards members of the opposite sex
ageism- discrimination against persons of a certain age group.
classism- a biased or discriminatory attitude based on distinctions made between social or economic classes.

The Worst Feeling

Published by haley4 under Uncategorized

Have you ever felt the break of a bone or the tear of ligaments? I have never experienced worse pain than that night.
It was a Wednesday night, at 8 o’clock, in the auxiliary gym here at the high school. Open gym for basketball had just begun, and we were scrimmaging. I was going up for a three pointer when I came down on someone’s foot and fell. My eyes starting tearing up, then I came to a complete cry, finally bawling. Shivers went down my back as I said, “It’s broken!” I was carried off the floor, as my ankle went completely numb.
The next morning I got into the doctor right away. I had x-rays taken and nothing was broken. I was relieved, but finding out what did happen was much worse than a break. When the doctor told me I tore all my ligaments and tissue in my right ankle, I thought immediately about the upcoming basketball season. I was put into a plaster cast and on crutches for three weeks, and then in a boot for another three weeks.
The hardest part of this whole thing was the recovery process. I had physical therapy twice a week, which was very hard, but fun. I would wonder everyday “When am I going to get better?”

Blog Post #4 - Text Messaging

Published by haley4 under Uncategorized

My general thoughts about text messaging is over rated. I wish I didn’t like texting so much! It takes time out of what your working on and controls your life. On an average day I do not know how many texts I send a day. It varies. Text does not really impact my writing. It does for most people because they use slang words and short cuts so its easier and faster. It changes conversations face to face by people saying “omg” instead of “oh my gosh”. Texting has taken over the life of high schoolers and middle schoolers, which even though I am one of those, I think it needs to change.

I have gained a lot from my independent reading. “Happy to have you folks here” said Pappy. In the book A Painted House you learn about different people and there way of living. From reading I gain a lot of intelligence and learn words that i have not heard of before and different ways to use them.

Typically with computers I get on the internet or write reports for school. I love to write I have gotten much better the last couple of years and now i enjoy it a lot. The internet is a very dangerous to kids and we need to watch childrens safety because there are wierd adults that mess with kids heads!! Knowing that I will be using the internet in the next couple of years is good!. I like typing on the blogs and expressing the topics.

Blog Post #1- Independent Reading Book

Published by haley4 under Uncategorized

I am reading the book, The Painted House, by John Grisham. This book is located on a farm. The family who owns the farm hires 10 Mexicans who will work on the farm for them. I picked this book out because it interested me. I live on a farm and learning how other people work there land is very cool to learn about. This book also caught my eye by seeing how it talked about different type of people and how they live there lives. In this book is also a little of suspence and adventure which makes me want to keep reading. So far I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes to read. I feel readers would really enjoy this book.
